This article titled The "Best Battery Grip for Canon 60D under 50 Dollars" is being written from a numerical analysis of five different battery grips for the Canon EOS 60D.
Theoretically, I am a photographic artist and the right-side of my brain dominates my thinking. That's the creative and emotional side of the brain.
The left-sided brain thrives on logical, analytic, and objective thinking. Sometimes I revert back to the left side of the brain when choosing certain camera accessories.
I start my research by several websites to get subjective opinions from various photography blogs. Secondly, I'll visit the manufacturer's web site to read what they have to say.
Thirdly, I go major on-line retailers and see if they are any worthwhile buyer reviews.
Finally, and most importantly, I go to Amazon, read the reviews and do some numerical analysis go the ratings. I created a formula, called the CanonGeek 4-5 rating that is a little more intuitive that the simple star rating system that Amazon uses.
I did a bunch of price analysis and here were the numerical winners at the time of the initial search. To get current prices, visit Amazon using the affiliate link below.

The Meike grip had 100% rating for the Canon 4-5 rating scale but had to be eliminated because it only had two buyers review it. That's not enough feedback to draw conclusions.
The ratings of the Zeikos and the Neewer were so close. They are both quite popular accessories with Canon 60D shooters. The edge goes to the Neewer as the best battery grip for the Canon 60D under 50 dollars. It is a few dollars cheaper.

The highest rated battery grip for the 60D goes to the genuine BG-E9.
It is the one made by Canon and is also, by far, the most expensive one. It's highest rated feature is its external surface, the fit and how it feels.
Second to that comes the functionality. Third party battery grips sometimes get complaints about the functioning of a particular button or its reliability. No complaints at all on those issues with the BG-E9.
The only negative reviews on this product came from buyers who left feedback for the wrong item, not the genuine Canon battery grip.
Final Best Battery Grip for Canon 60D under 50 Dollars advice: Don't wait too long to buy one. Not a big deal to return one if you happen to have a little bad luck and get a clunker.
All of the Canon alternatives are good, if not great, and function well.
Battery grips are fun to use, give you those vertical controls, add, to your battery capacity, and give you a nice weight balance when shooting with a longer lens.
Have a blast!
