EVF-DC1
"Does the Canon EVF-DC1 Electronic Viewfinder work on the Canon EOS M"
Thanks for your question Robbin! I think the quick answer is no. That's not buildt into the EOS M
The Canon USA site lists two current cameras for the EVF-DC1 Viewfinder:
Compatibility
-- PowerShot G1 X Mark II Canon Direct Exclusive Kit
-- PowerShot G3 X
The Canon site also says "has an optional shoe-mounted electronic viewfinder," when describing accessories for the EOS M. So, that's a little confusing.
Here is a youtube video on the "unboxing" of the EOS M LCD V6 viewfinder which is an alternative that some EOS M shooters use instead of a hot shoe viewer: EOS M LCD-V6 Viewfinder.
Here is a link to one that's being sold on Amazon: ATian 2.8X 3" LCD Viewfinder. It's not highly rated.
I am not a big fan of the EOS M at all. Canon has been trying to improve on it's clunky focusing, particularly with the release of the M3.

Canon Powershot G12
" Can I get an electronic viewfinder for my Canon powershot G12? "
Thanks for your question about the Powershot G12, Terrence! And also, pat yourself on the back for having a real nice camera. Before I upgraded to a G1X Mark II, I enjoyed using my Canon G11 quite a bit. I love the articulating screen, shooting Raw format, and having a hot shoe on top.
It is an interesting question to ask, considering that the G12 already has a built-in optical viewfinder. I don't know of one. I don't think Canon would invest a ton of money for an electronic viewfinder for the G12. There wouldn't be enough demand for one to justify the expense.
The EVF-DC1 Viewfinder would be the only possible chance.
Good Luck,
Bruce

Canon EVF-DC! Viewfinder
Hello there!
So I am currently looking for an electronic viewfinder for my Canon 5DSR.
I wanted to know if the EVF-DC1 is compatible with the 5DSR? And if you have any better suggestions.
Thank you!
Hi Clare!
Thanks for your question. Congratulations on your possession of a 5DS R. That's quite a camera, particularly for those photographers who want the ultimate use of its high resolution and sharpness features.
I am curious about your desire to use an EVF viewfinder on a DSLR when many photographers would simple use the LCD screen if they wanted an electronic view of their subject.
The Canon USA site does not list an EVF as a potential accessory, but I do not know for certain if the 5DS R has the programming built in to accommodate the EVF-DC1.
Many photographers, myself included employ a magnifier of some kind instead. See the photos.
Coincidentally, you are the 2nd person who recently asked about using the EVF-DC1 on a camera other than the G1x Mark II, its original intended camera body: EVF-DC1 on EOS M.
