Updating Firmware on Canon 5D Mark II

Canon 5D Mark II

Canon 5D Mark II

Hello,

I was given a canon 5D Mark ii and noticed that the firmware was older 2.0.4 and went to upgrade it to 2.1.2 and I am currently stuck at 5%.

I have tried updating through the computer and CF card and no changes. I tried installing older revision firmware and no change.

Any ideas will be helpful.

Thanks
Scott

Hi Scott,

Sorry you're having an issue with upgrading your firmware for a Canon 5D Mark II. That's an oldie but goodie of a camera, the second version in Canon's 5D series. Labeled as only "Prosumer" cameras, all of the full frame 5D sensors can give you great image quality. I've been earning a living with 5D camera bodies since 2007. I started with the 5D Mark I and upgraded 5 years later to a 5D Mark III.

Sorry I have no direct experience with a Canon 5D Mark II, but I doubt the issue with upgrading firmware for your Canon EOS 5D Mark II is specific to the the Mark II version of this line of Canon cameras. I'm assuming you're trying to download from the USA.Canon website.

Canon 5D Mark II Price

Fortunately for you, Scott, you got your 5D Mark II for a great price (;-) and you can take great photos with the firmware as is. The 2.12 firmware update for the 5D Mark II is now almost 10 years old.

Your problem should have an easy fix, but it's beyond my level of experience with upgrading firmware. I don't know if this is your first Canon DSLR body or what lenses you have, so I'm not sure if the situation dictates you to purchase a newer camera or not.

Thanks for checking in,
Good luck,
Bruce
